Here's a picture of the doctor pulling out the drainage pipe (Day 1) while Sonia is holding his ankle.  And she is doing everything within her power NOT to pass out.  We like looking at this picture because Larry's knees now don't even resemble this slice of meat.  Smith and Nephew are the manufacturers of the Journey knees.  We think it's a play on words...Smith and Nephew...Smith and Wesson, because there are times I wanted to shoot myself.  Larry wanted to end his misery too.  And Journey - this is a journey!!  The link below gives you a play by play of the actual procedure, and they have suggested tools to use - mallets, screws.  If you like to build stuff, this is fun?!

Day 15 - tired and hungry (Sonia's assessment)

We had a shorter walk today.  Larry cheated on the last hill home.  Of course, I believe it's because he didn't have much to eat.  In addition, Larry spent hours on the CPM machine increasing his range of motion up to 115 degrees.  OUCH.  Larry's at the bottom of Union/Steiner hill about to get into the car.  He looks a bit tired...but that's okay.  So, it's ice, ice, baby.

Nice wheels...whaccha thunk?  Overall, he's on the mend, pardon the pun.  Let's hope Larry gets a good night's rest.  We don't want him going over the speed limit.  Larry surprised me he actually knew how to work this thing.  Maybe his Dad gave him some pointers.

it was a great day in SF and we got yogurt one more time before my
knees are chopped up and I won't be able to walk down there for a day or two but not much more than that.
